Major: Bachelor of Arts in Technical Communication

Technical writers make difficult topics easy to understand. Technical Communication is one of several English degrees offered here at EWU. We study different styles and types of writing, editing, public relations, and graphic design. The program outline for the Bachelor of Arts in Technical Communication program is here. The program has been updated recently. The new infographic is here.

Some people refer to what I do as "scientific writing." I specialize in writing non-fiction content, particularly grant applications and instructional material. I also edit and create documents and graphics. I recently completed a team project redesigning a digital ebook, which can be viewed here. My digital resume is here. I have also created a Style Tile for web-based documents, as well as a digital art gallery to show examples of my work.

Background Information

I am a Technical Writer and Editor. I believe in the power of education and the power of the written word. Addressing the causes of poverty, improving education, ending homelessness, ensuring privacy, and access to health care are important issues to me.

I earned my Associate of Arts degree at Spokane Falls Community College in 2009. I began my studies at Eastern Washington University to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Technical Communication in 2011. I graduated in June 2014 with minors in Linguistics, Anthropology, and Graphic Design.

I also have experience writing and editing for an online entertainment magazine.

Professional Objectives

I am interested in writing helpful user instructions, winning grants for non-profit agencies, and helping people expand their educations. I prefer working independently, but I am comfortable working on a group project as well. The best position will allow me to help the company increase readership and circulation and learn new writing skills.
